Q. Where does the white cedar you use come from?

A. We use Northern white cedar that is cut and harvest in Maine by responsible tree cutting operations that have a
history of replanting and preservation of naturally habitats.

Q. What is the longevity of Northern White Cedar

 A. Northern white cedar has a well-deserved reputation for durability and natural rot resistance. It has been used for hundreds and hundreds of years as a roofing material in the form of shingles, fences, fence posts and pilings. Other uses include decking material for docks and patios and for the construction of boats. Of course Northern white cedar has also been used in the building of outdoor furniture. Despite the new trend of plastic outdoor furniture, northern white cedar remains one of the best materials for wood crafts that last a lifetime.

Q. How long will my order take to arrive?

A. this depends on the size of the order and what we currently have in stock in our warehouse; Be assured all
orders are treated with care to ensure high quality and ultimately very happy customers. Upon placing an order you will be giving an estimated time of arrival  for your product to be milled and shipped to your destination.

Q. How can I finish cedar?

A. Cedar lumber takes stains very well. There are many colors on the market today and  for outdoor items, adding a coat every year or so will keep your furniture looking vibrant. Cedar also has naturally occurring oils that
keep the wood from rotting. If you choose to let your piece age naturally it will turn a silver-gray and the wood will not be affected at all. In fact, the natural oils help prevent decay and ward off insects. If you would like to
paint your piece we suggest that you apply an outdoor primer and two coats of outdoor paint.

Facts about cedar

Cedar is the lightest of any commercial wood in the United States and also has natural preservatives that make it resistant to decay, rot, and insects. Thus, it is often used in products that are in direct contact with water and soil.
Many other types of wood will display excessive bowing and warping depending on the environment it is placed in. Cedar adjusts well to all climate conditions, making it a great choice for furniture, garden beds, fencing and other projects in many environments.
