Portage Mills is located in the backwoods setting of Portage Lake. This

Portage Mills began over 48 years ago when sawmills followed the
woodsmen to the next area of thick woods.  The mill became
permanent in the late 1960's.  The mill is now owned and operated by
Pat Lovley and his sons, Shawn and Seth, who concentrate on
products made from the superior quality and durability of NORTHERN
MAINE WHITE CEDAR.

Portage Mills purchases superior cedar logs from local professionally
certified logging contractors whom practice sound sustainable forest
practices.

These tree length logs are sawn using with age old proven equipment
producing the highest quality products.  The wood is then dried, planed,
quality inspected and stored on sight.  All added value is perform by
high value employees on the Portage Mills site.

Northern white cedar is naturally decay and insect resistant.  Northern
White cedar requires minimal maintenance withstanding even the most
extreme weather conditions for up to thirty years without needing
upkeep.  Northern White cedar also has exceptional insulating aspects.

Portage Mills specializes in high quality value added cedar siding, deck
materials, interior tongue and groove products as well as value added
speciality, such as picnic tables.
